Eglinton Village Solar Updates

Eglinton Village Solar Updates

This page provides the latest updates on Eve's Opt In Solar Program and Self-Supply customers, including application information, milestones and upcoming communications.

Current Status for Eglinton Village Energy (Eve)

We're pleased to advise that Self-Supply Applications are now open for customers within the Eglinton Village Energy (Eve) community energy sharing network.

Customers wishing to install their own approved solar system can now submit a Self-Supply Application through our website. Applications will be assessed in accordance with Eve's technical requirements and approval process.

Alongside the Self-Supply pathway, Eve's Opt In Solar Program also continues to progress. Customers who have previously registered their interest in the Opt In Solar Program do not need to take any further action at this time. We look forward to providing a further update on the next stage of the program in the coming weeks.

Eve's Embedded Generation Application with Western Power also remains under assessment.

The recently approved exemption enables Eve to progress the Eve Opt In Solar Program and also accept and assess Self-Supply Applications while this process continues, supporting the ongoing rollout of solar opportunities within the Eglinton Village community.

Important Information

  • Self-Supply Applications are now open and can be submitted through the Residential > Solar section of our website. Please note, submission of an application does not constitute approval to install. Installation must not commence until written approval has been issued by Eve.
  • Customers should not purchase, install or commit to a solar or battery system until written approval has been received from Eve.
  • If you have previously signed your Opt In Agreement to join the Opt In Solar Program, you do not need to do anything further. We will contact eligible customers as further information becomes available.
  • Before submitting an application, we encourage customers to review the application, the Inverter Make & Model List, and our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) available on our website.
  • Properties with a three-phase electrical connection must install a compatible three-phase solar system.
  • Eve does not assess eligibility for, administer, or provide advice regarding federal or state solar rebates, renewable energy incentives, or battery subsidy programs. Customers should confirm eligibility directly with their chosen solar installer, or the relevant government agency.

Self-Supply Applications

Once your application has been submitted:

  1. Eve will review your application and supporting documentation.
  2. We will contact you regarding the Self Supply Information & Agreement Pack, and will engage your nominated installer for further technical information as part of the subsequent steps.
  3. Once your application has been assessed, we'll provide written advice of the outcome.
  4. Following approval, installation can proceed in accordance with Eve's requirements.
  5. Once installation is complete, any required inspections, commissioning activities and approvals must be completed before your system can be connected and energised.

Eve Opt In Solar Program

Eve's Opt In Solar Program continues to progress alongside the Self-Supply pathway.

If you've previously signed your Opt In Agreement for the Opt In Solar Program, your agreement remains active and there is no need to do anything further, unless you have decided that Self-Supply is now your preferred option in which case you can contact us to discuss.

We appreciate your continued patience and look forward to providing a further update regarding the Opt In Solar Program in the coming weeks.

Embedded Generation Application

Eve continues to work closely with Western Power regarding the Embedded Generation Application for Eglinton Village.

This application remains under assessment.

While this process continues, the approved exemption enables Eve progress with planning for Eve Solar Opt In Program customers and to accept and assess Self-Supply Applications in accordance with the approved framework.

Eve will continue to keep customers informed as further updates become available.

Electricity Network Approval

Eve is the licensed electricity network operator for the Eglinton Village community energy sharing network.

As the network operator, all customer-owned solar and battery systems require approval from Eve before they can be connected or energised.

This approval process ensures that all installations meet the technical and operational requirements necessary to maintain a safe, reliable and efficient electricity network for the entire community.

Why Approval Is Required

Solar and battery systems change the way electricity flows throughout the community energy sharing network.

Every proposed installation is assessed to ensure:

  • safe operation of the electricity network
  • stable voltage levels
  • reliable protection systems
  • compliance with network technical requirements
  • continued reliability for all customers connected to the Eve network.

This approval process helps protect both individual customers and the wider community.

Electrical Notices and Inspections

As the licensed electricity network operator, Eve must receive all required statutory electrical documentation relating to solar and battery installations within the estate.

This includes, where applicable:

  • Preliminary Notices
  • Notices of Completion (NOCs)
  • other required electrical compliance documentation.

These documents should be submitted to Eglinton Village Energy, not Western Power.
